For the first time in France, a geoscience village covering more than 8,000 square meters will be open to the public from September 25 to 27, 2008. The event, which is being held as part of the International Year of the Planet Earth and which also falls during the year of the centennial of Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Géologie (ENSG, postgraduate school of geology), Géologia 2008 will be featuring geoscience skills, their recent changes and their place in daily life.
A forum on geoscience related jobs, attended by representatives from large French companies, will be an opportunity for the professionals from branches such as raw materials, energy, water, the environment, civil engineering or public works, to inform all, with a focus on young people, about job opportunities and careers in the promising sector.
More than 100,000 visitors are expected at Géologia 2008 where they will be able to enjoy numerous events in addition to the jobs forum and discover a mammoth work site machine and an earthquake simulator, tour exhibits and interactive workshops, or watch panoramic films.
