Next October 1 and 2 a conference on 'The Challenges of Change for French Research: Discussing, Understanding and Preparing the Future' will be held at the Centre des Cordeliers in Paris. The purpose of the event is to provoke thought and foster discussions on the current dynamics of the Système Français de Recherche et d'Innovation (SFRI, French research and innovation system) after the reforms and new structures that have been set up over the past years and that have radically changed the institutional landscape of public research in France.
The finality will be to clear the way for forward planning by answering questions such as, what role and strategy for the organizations, universities and graduate schools but also for the ministerial steering policy and the intermediate structures? What path for change should the SFRI undertake as seen within the European context? What impact will this have on young research scientists' future? The two-day event will be an opportunity to analyze ongoing transformations, confront the different opinions on the issues that will be introduced by distinguished speakers, and even to send messages to the tutelary authorities.
